A Living Visual Language
As part of an ongoing exploration into Dialect’s evolving visual DNA, this research focused on how emerging tools might be used to extend expression beyond static imagery. The aim was not to adopt technology for its own sake, but to understand how AI systems such as segmentation, skeletal and facial tracking could layer meaning into visual output.
Developed by Andy, our Creative Director, the experiment brings together TouchDesigner and Google’s MediaPipe to create a real-time, responsive image treatment. Uploaded footage, video, and live camera feeds are processed through a custom pipeline, producing a thermal-like aesthetic that responds directly to movement and presence.
By remapping the image into Dialect’s vibrant green palette, the system becomes a lens rather than an effect. A consistent visual filter through which content can pass, adapting in real time while maintaining a recognisable identity.
The result is intentionally textural and expressive. A study in how data, motion, and colour can be composed into something that feels alive. Less about visual spectacle, more about discovering new ways to tell stories through behaviour, responsiveness, and form.
